Facial cupping is all the rage these days, and for very good reason. Not only famous people and beauty queens can benefit from facial cupping. The cosmetic benefit of facial cupping is an increase in blood flow, increased elasticity in the face, brightening of the complexion, and a reduction in discoloration and fine lines. There are many therapeutic effects of cupping as well such as reducing stress, TMJ, muscular tension, headaches, sinus issues, and Bell's Palsy.
It's a great time to become part of the movement, as we see the research coming out about certain treatments causing long-lasting negative effects such as a loss of cortical brain activity and effecting hand movement.
Most women are looking for a natural way to improve their appearance, but they are not aware there is one. There is no doubt that if shown a natural way to maintain a natural glow, most women will happily do so. The beauty industry is a billion-dollar industry!
When receiving facial cupping, a client must first come for a series of sessions usually 6-10 sessions to obtain the best results. Once you have gotten the full effect of the treatment, a maintenance schedule of every 4-6 weeks is suggested to keep the same impact of the treatments.
This means that you are looking at a lot of extra bookings! You will be rebooking your clients monthly on an ongoing basis, which leads to some nice depth in your pocketbook with very little physical effort on your part.
It's a win-win situation! We are all looking for ways to help people that are a bit less strenuous on our bodies but that are still meaningful.
This course is perfect for Bodywork professionals, acupuncturists, aestheticians, beauty experts, or anyone who wishes to dive deeply into self-care.
We will look at treating the following conditions:
The instructional videos demonstrate the use of both silicone and glass cups, and the video demonstration includes a cupping for self-care video as well.
Lisa Dowling BA R Ac
Registered Acupuncturist and Manual Therapist
Lisa Dowling entered the world of healing and bodywork through her own journey that began at the age of seven, when a freak accident left her with long term health issues and chronic pain. She found shiatsu therapy through her chiropractor who suggested it to help manage her pain. Five years later Lisa found herself on a treatment mat in Thailand, and knew that she had found her calling.
From that day in 1997 it has been a constant learning and growing process. Lisas' studies in thai massage, shiatsu, movement therapy, western sciences - anatomy and physiology, osteopathic techniques, acupuncture - specifically Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, and cupping were fueled by her own desire to learn to manage chronic pain.
Lisa began teaching cupping at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 2009, and currently teaches at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since 2015, Lisa has formed the Meridian Care Center where she provides courses in Eastern Medicine, Meridian Therapy, Acupressure, Moxibustion, and Cupping Therapy.
Her desire to provide high quality materials for practitioners to not only improve the quality of treatments, but also to make it easier on the body has been a prime motivation. Since the 2016 Olympics cupping therapy has become extremely popular, and there was a lot of misinformation being spread through the media networks. It became Lisa's mission to try to correct some of the misinformation, and provide high quality, evidence based information that is delivered through the lens of Traditional Medicine.
